What is Vaginoplasty?
Vaginoplasty operations are one of the aesthetic operations performed for the internal genital area. It is applied by gynaecology specialists. The vagina, which expands over time, is narrowed by surgical operation to return to its former form. It can be counted among the repair surgeries known as reconstructive. This enlargement condition, which occurs due to the weakening of the vaginal muscles, may be accompanied by conditions such as vaginal flatulence or urinary incontinence in the future. Vaginoplasty operations also prevent these problems.
Patients do not necessarily need to have given birth or be of advanced age to need vaginoplasty. Vaginal aging is not only the biological age of the patient. The amount of deformation of the region and the rate of susceptibility to deformation also affect this definition. Therefore, the patient’s age does not need to be above middle age to need vaginal renewal process.
How is Vaginoplasty Performed?
Vaginoplasty surgeries are performed by gynaecologists. Because, contrary to popular belief, vaginal aesthetics is not like any aesthetic operation, while reconstructing the vagina, it contributes greatly to the function of the vagina as well as the appearance. The operation is a surgical intervention. Therefore, operating theatre procedures apply. The operation can be performed by numbing the lower back (epidural anaesthesia). However, general anaesthesia is generally preferred for the psychological comfort of the patient.Depending on the state of anaesthesia, the patient may need to come hungry or full.
In the case of epidural anaesthesia, the patient should enter the operation full, and in the case of general anaesthesia, the patient should enter the operation hungry. During the operation, the enlarged excess tissue is removed from the vagina. If any, the loosened muscle tissue is tightened by surgical intervention. No incision is made in the abdomen during the operation. The incisions made remain in the vaginal area. Therefore, complaints such as scars are not common. The rate of reduction is decided by the physician according to the patient’s history and the amount of enlargement. There is no change in the length of the vagina during the operation. Excess tissue is removed from the vagina and the vagina is narrowed with horizontal stitches. This procedure is usually performed on the back wall of the vagina. The duration of the operation is shaped according to the amount of reduction. However, it generally varies between 30 – 60 minutes. The stitches are dissolving stitches. There is no procedure such as stitch removal afterwards.
